Accepting My Death

He shines
Like the sun
That smile
Bright
Brilliant
Exploding through his eyes
To bathe me in his warmth
And yet when
His gaze turns
It’s cold
My sun becomes
Just another far-flung star
And I’m left
Hollow
Shivering
I can feel the blood slowing
And freezing me from inside
Convinced it’s the last of me
Ready to let go
Until he wraps me in his arms
To thaw me out
One more time
